The English Choir Berlin was founded in 2013 by Kathleen Bird. Its roughly 35 members come from United Kingdom, North America, Germany as well as from Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Asia. The English Choir Berlin is mainly dedicated to the musical and liturgical tradition of English cathedrals and organizes once a month a choral evensong according to the Anglican Book of Common Prayer (1662) in the Berlin Cathedral. With a rich repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to Romanticism to contemporary compositions, the English Choir Berlin also performs in concerts in and outside of Berlin. The English Choir Berlin has repeatedly been invited to international masterclasses for young conductors, performing choral-symphonic works such as the Requiem by W. A. ​​Mozart and “The Messiah” by G. F. Händel.

Kathleen Bird, born in Baltimore, Maryland, studied organ in Baltimore and Marburg and conducting in Darmstadt. As a singer, she was a member of professional choirs in Boston, London, Los Angeles and Germany. Since 1982 she lives in Germany, first in Frankfurt, where she was Cantor of the musically very active Episcopal Church Frankfurt / Main. Since 2011 she lives in Berlin, where she founded the English Choir Berlin in 2013.
